Travel Tips at the Airport Have your boarding pass and identification ready for the security officer. After passing through security you won’t need your identification again unless you are traveling overseas. To board overseas flights you will need your passport. Follow the airlines suggested arrival time at the airport. Time needed for security varies throughout the day. Take your laptop computer out of its case and put in a tub by itself. You will need to remove your shoes and any jackets or other outerwear. Sometimes removing your belt, jewerly and cellphone and putting them in a carry-on will help speed up going through security. If you do not put these items in a carry-on they will need to go into a tub to be scanned. Small containers of liquids or gels you plan to carry on the plane need to go in a clear quart sized ziplock bag. Containers need to be 3.4 ounces or less (No that 6 oz. container of toothpaste with only 2 oz. left won’t do). One ziplock bag per traveler. If you are bringing a gift don’t wrap it, carry the paper separately and wrap it after going through security. Security will want to see what is in the package.
